Beautiful article. Describes my father to a tee. I know a number of men who fit most of these ideals, and yeah they are all taken by lovely smart sexy women. I’ve got such a knight as my boyfriend and yeah great men like these aren’t on the market for long. Snap them up when you find them ladies or someone else will beat you to it. My parents have been together forty years–for example 😉

I agree. But it’s not only married men. I’ve dated single men who’ve tried to rush me into marriage who did all of the above. In my culture, a trophy wife is one with an education, a prestigious job, and a house.

I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, Rick.

I fell in love with this guy when I was fourteen. He was a family friend and 21 years old. He actually was waiting for me to graduate from college, but I moved to another state and he married someone else. Now, he’s no longer the man he once was and I believe it’s because he didn’t marry the person he loved. Neither did I. I was engaged a number of times and proposed to by almost every man I’ve dated because I’m stable, but they did not have even a third of these qualities. So I’ve chosen to remain single. I did meet this guy recently, but he’s 20 years younger than me and married.
