Booom! This Family Will Challenge Everything You’ve Been Taught About What’s ‘Normal’
“We just want people to know that we’re normal, and you can’t judge people on their ‘normal.’”
A year ago a handsome guy named Kordale snapped an innocent picture of himself and his family during their morning ritual. (picture below)
Within minutes after posting it on Instagram it went viral.
Ever since that day has the life of this extraordinary family changed forever.
Meet Kordale & Kaled
Kordale & Kaled are gay, gorgeous and live together with their three kids in Atlanta, Georgia.
When Kordale snapped the picture of him and his partner during their morning ritual of brushing their daughter’s hair he had no idea of the impact it would have on the world.
The image – two gay, black dads parenting their young daughters like, God forbid, any other couple – went viral. Kordale and Kaleb were instantly overwhelmed with the overnight backlash of negativity and the warmth of support that came with their worldwide Internet recognition.
After the picture went viral, the Japanese optics company Nikon, invited Kordale & Kaled to be the main characters of their next video campaign. The video is emotional, touching and gives a glimpse into the lives of Kordale & Kaled.
But the picture and video only scratches the surface of what the life of Kordale & Kaled truly looks like. It doesn’t say anything about the pain, tears and difficulties they went through. Kordale therefore decided to write a memoir named “Picture Perfect” which gives a deeper insight.
“Picture Perfect” is an honest, soul-bearing memoir that pulls back the curtain on the story behind the picture and reveals the less-than-perfect history underneath.
With inspiring candor, Kordale describes his struggles with childhood sexual abuse, a drug-addicted and mentally absent mother, sexual identity, suicide, the trials of young fatherhood, and much more.
His story is a not only a triumph against all odds and a touching pursuit for love, but also a bold challenge for readers to redefine their own meaning of a perfect family.”
This amazing couple is challenging societies idea of what a “normal” family should look like. And to me personally the word ‘Family’ has very little to do with our blood relations but all with our hearts.
Family really means that you will love and be loved for the rest of your life. No matter what. Family means total acceptance. We can all be family to each other.

I loved this story <3 So heart warming and amazing. My best friend growing up had 2 moms, also my other best friend in grade school had 2 moms when I was older too. And it just goes to show that gay couples can raise healthy wonderful kids too. They are people and their lives are hardly any different than ours.
Dear Jenna, I completely agree with you. Love comes in all shapes and family has so much more to do with who loves us that our blood bonds. I send you a big hug and thank you for for sharing your lovely comment.
